Pair of Jersey coastal scene oil paintings by Jeremy C. G. King (1933–2020) held in painted gold frames
A beautiful pair of idylicc oil on board paintings depicting rugged coastal scenes on the Channel Island of Jersey. One example titled Tour De Rozel depicts a charming hillside and coastal scene near Rozel Bay. The other, titled Front Telegraph Tower, depicts a rocky coastal view between Iliquet Bay and Yerclut point.
King was a renowned Landscape painter, printmaker, potter and teacher, born in Oundle, Northamptonshire, married to the artist Brenda King. From 1958–67 he taught painting and pottery at Haymill School, Burnham, then took up painting and lithography full-time, working in ateliers in Spain and Paris and at Curwen Studio.
His many shows included the RA Summer Exhibition and ROI. Had a first solo exhibition at Ruthven Gallery, Lancaster, Ohio, in America, 1984, another in 1986; another show in Osaka, Japan, 1990; and a series at Century Galleries, Henley-on-Thames, including 2000. The Tate Gallery’s print collection holds his lithographs. Both examples are held within a charming gold painted frame and have the artist inscriptions to the reverse.
