WHO WE ARE
We’re Suzanne and Alex. We have a strong belief in the high street and what it means to the local community. We created our shop to showcase our stock but more importantly to create a space for like-minded people who have a shared love for history, the unusual and the beautiful.
We have a genuine passion for lovely things and we strive to offer exceptional quality at fair prices. We pride ourselves on our ever-changing styles and our bold integration of periods, aesthetics and colours. While age and history is important we believe quality and style is timeless. Thus, our offerings range from contemporary to ancient.
We believe antiques and interiors form an important part of your home. They can be used as a form of expression and can help transform a simple room into a special space for you and your family. We’re proud of our stock and what we have to offer. We believe we attract like minded individuals with an eye for quality. We strive to offer our customers beautiful pieces that help them create their special place.
Suzanne and Alex met through a shared love of antiques. Sourcing interesting and quirky pieces to sell online has been a passion for both for a long time, and has now led to the opening of their first bricks and mortar shop - Reed antiques.
From crafting Georgian style dolls house furniture as a young teenager to discovering her fathers dusty antique books stored away, Suzanne’s interest in antiques started early and has been a constant thread throughout her life. Her passion for creating led to an interior design diploma which she earnt alongside a decade long career creating bespoke hand crafted stationery on Victorian period printing presses. Suzanne has a keen eye for craftsmanship and design and places these attributes at the forefront of her mind when sourcing stock and curating spaces. While Suzanne has a particular interest in antique furniture she has a general passion for collecting, curating and learning about unusual and decorative pieces that spread across a variety of fields.
Alex's interest began as a 14 year old when he started to buy board games at boot sales to sell on for profit- a far more interesting way to earn pocket money than washing dishes or delivering newspapers. He soon moved on to scouring local auction houses and developed an interest in antiques. This hobby grew throughout his time at university, and since graduation he has worked full time in the industry, collecting useful contacts and adding to his knowledge on a daily basis. Keen not to become pigeon holed into one category, he has always had an eclectic taste, sticking closely to the mantra of buying what you love.
