Antique miniature oil on board painting depicting Venetian canal and gondola scene
A beautifully charming and well executed miniature oil painting produced on a wooden panel and held in a black painted wooden frame. The painting depicts an iconic venetian scene with gondolas on the canal with the cityscape background looming to the background of the painting.
The painting is unsigned but forms a part of a larger collection produced by Frank Shayler. Frank Hearn Shayler (1867–1954) was a Shrewsbury-based architect, and hobbyist artist, who predominantly worked in an Arts and Crafts architectural style throughout Oxfordshire and Wales.
A wonderful decorative miniature piece oozing with both charm and good academic merit.
The piece measures 22cm x 9cm
