ANTIQUE GIANT CLAM SHELL
Exceptional Victorian 19th century giant clam shell Tridacna gigas natural history interest
A masterpiece in its own right. The perfect sculpture formed by nature itself.
Or… if you’re feeling particularly decedent why not open it up and fill it with ice to cool off your champagne.
These beautiful shells are located in the Indian and Pacific Ocean and can have a lifespan of over 100 years.
Be careful though… Polynesian folk tales tell of gruesome stories whereby these giant creatures attack canoes and drown individuals who dare approach them.
This one seems friendly enough though.
The base shell having a width of 55cm, depth of 42cm and a height of 18cm
The top shell having a width of 53cm, depth of 38cm and a height of 17cm.
